HEALTH FOR MEN
The human body is much more complicated than any machine yet built by humans. Yet, in most cases, it needs less day-to-day care than a machine. No machine can do all the things our bodies can do. No machine can work for 70 years or more, day and night, requiring only air, water, food and a few simple rules. No machine has been made which can adjust to so many different environmental, physical and mental conditions as the human body. So, while knowing all this is true, why do men take so little time caring for and maintaining their bodies? Is the Australian male's negative attitude towards health care genetic or is it bred into him? This page provides several brief introductory articles to some important issues related to the health care of the Australian male. Hopefully it will encourage our readers to find out more about this extremely important issue of caring for the health of men in Australia. |

Prostate Health Issues

50% of men over the age of 50 years will experience some form of prostate or urinary problem. This incidence rises to 80% at 80 years of age. Many men are unwilling to discuss this aspect of their health with their family or their doctor, and therefore many of these cases go undetected, continuing to cause men discomfort and embarrassment. This site is dedicated to raising awareness of prostate health issues for men, and providing vital information to allow men to make the right decisions regarding their health. Movember

However we look at it, men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy for men is five years less than females (presently 78 compared to 83). Men access health services 30-40% less than women, thereby denying themselves the chance for prevention and early detection of common diseases. It is now evident men need to unite and embrace a new challenge - to improve their collective health. Men's Support Services
