Also known as the Todd River Race, the Henley-on-Todd Regatta is the world’s only dry river regatta and it began its life as a cautious joke at the expense of formal British regattas. It is an all-day event during which various kinds of craft “sail” down the typically dry Todd River in Alice Springs. It is also the only regatta to be cancelled due to rain resulting in water in the river.
